Larry E. Drivon founded Drivon, Turner & Waters in 1973 and relocated the practice to Stockton in 1975.
Larry is a past president of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the San Joaquin County Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Larry has twice been nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year (a national honor) by the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, of which he has been a long-time member.
Larry has written extensively on legal issues, including consumer rights. He authored "The Civil War on Consumer Rights,” published by the Canard Press (1990), which was sold in bookstores across the country.
Although he no longer handles criminal matters, Larry has defended individuals facing the death penalty and a wide range of criminal charges. He was also co-council in one of the longest criminal trials in California history, which lasted one year.
Recognized in Stockton, Modesto, Sacramento, and across the country as an expert personal injury trial lawyer, Larry holds the record for the largest verdict ever in the U.S. involving a passenger vehicle rollover accident ($295 million) as well as the largest sum of punitive damages ever awarded in the history of clergy sexual abuse litigation.
Larry is a former chairman of the Consumer Attorneys of California's Amicus Curie Committee for professional negligence. He has participated in over 30 appellate and California Supreme Court cases, which have included several landmark decisions.
From 2001 to 2003, Larry served as special counsel to the California State Senate Select Committee to Investigate Price Manipulation of the Wholesale Energy Market, to which he devoted innumerable hours on a pro bono basis, and for which he received an official Senate resolution thanking him for his efforts.
In addition to continuing to work on the preparation, settlement, and trial of civil cases, Larry E. Drivon is serving as special council to a new Senate select committee investigating the oil refinery industry.
